Return of the Ducks!

We are so excited to have our feathered friends back for the third year!

Mother duck has a dozen ducklings following her around our courtyard, and we can't stop peeking out our classroom window to see what they are up to!

Measurement Mania!

Students have been learning to measure using customary and metric units. Estimating and comparing length, distance, weight, and capacity was a challenge and a lot of fun, too!

Students measured their height, and compared the findings to Abraham Lincoln!

Mr. Gallon is a helpful guy to keep in the kitchen!

Busy at work during math centers

How tall are you in feet and inches?

Carefully measuring metric capacity

A funnel is always helpful!

Teamwork is essential in our classroom!

Living Biographies

Students recently completed biography projects, culminating in outstanding class presentations.

We learned a great deal about these interesting and accomplished people!

The boys and girls should be quite proud of the time and effort put into this project!

Today, third graders enjoyed a wonderful presentation about birds of prey.

It was a nice introduction to bird adaptations, which will will be studying in science.

Here are some pictures of the birds the kids got to meet in person!

Writing Projects

We have wrapped up our Opinion/Argument writing unit. Here is a peek at a few projects that really got our budding writers very excited.

Students wrote about a future profession that would be perfect for them. Opinions were clearly stated and supported by reasons and evidence. We have some future designers, athletes, scientists, and teachers in Room 9!

What season do you like the best? With all the snow we've been having, we decided to choose from winter or summer. Based on our survey, summer is winning by a landslide! Although we have many students who enjoy skiing, building snowmen, and drinking hot cocoa, most of us would rather be on a sunny beach right about now.
