Opinion Writing- Save the Turkeys!

Here is a sneak-peek of some great opinion writing!

Students disguised some turkeys and crafted opinion pieces as to why we should pass on the turkey and try something different for Thanksgiving dinner this year.

The work was filled with convincing reasons paired with very strong evidence. This was a fun writing activity that helped students understand how powerful opinion writing can be.

Thanksgiving Fun

Students learned how to plan and shop for Thanksgiving dinner. Exploring the grocery store adds for the best deals on turkeys was quite the learning experience!

We shared a story called, Cranberry Thanksgiving, set in a New England cranberry bog. After, we made our own homemade butter to put on cranberry muffins.

The boys and girls got a taste of what it might have been like to make butter in colonial times!

Planting in the Green Room!

The boys and girls were very excited to plant "The Three Sisters" in The Green Room!

Students planted seeds and will be watering, observing and measuring over the next few weeks!
